Aquila magazine
https://www.aquila.co.uk/
I was researching into different publishing routes and also editorial illustration when I came across Aquila Magazine. This is a magazine targeted to children. It is an educational magazine making school subjects fun such as Science, History and General Knowledge. I would love have an edition which includes my illustration and to help inspire children with education. This would be perfect fit for me, this is because I love illustrating educational subjects, for example I'm illustrating a Perseus and Medusa trail in Negotiated Programme. I think my style and visual language would suit this kind of magazine. To be able to work with them I will have to create a professional portfolio and contact them through email.
Folio Society
https://www.foliosociety.com/
I have always been interested in the Folio Society throughout my art career. To be able to illustrate a classical book or even a renowned children's book would be a highlight of my career. Because I have a children's illustration approach to my work I would benefit by creating one of their children's book. My fun style and use of bright colours would be a great edition to one of these books. There isn't a place where I can contact them them on about submitting my portfolio. They will normally scout out different clients so having a large social media presence could be beneficial to me in them finding my work.
Etsy and My own Online Shop- Be my own client
etsy.com/uk/shop/ArtByAmyElizabeth
I have always wanted to create illustration, cards and collectables to be able to sell online and to make a name for myself based on my own achievements. I have already got experience in being an online seller, to get myself started I will just need to start creating more and selling art. As well as creating an Etsy, I would like to open up my own shop on my own website. This will be through shopify. To get enough customers looking on to my shop, I will need to grow the amount of instagram followers I have and direct them to my website instead of etsy.
Bloomsbury Publishing
Every year they take on 11 new apprentices and will work on obtaining a level 3 publishing assistant apprenticeship. The one I would be interested in is an Apprentice Art Worker. I have in fact contacted them through email but I am yet to get a reply off of them. In the email I asked what requirements I needed to be considered as an apprentice and what they look for in a portfolio.
Update: Although I still haven't received a reply, I looked further into their website and other publishing companies similar and the requirements include; a personal statement, CV, portfolio, cover letter.
However, I do know that the best way to find out more details of what they would like to see, is to follow them on Linked In and Instagram. This is because I will always get the up to date information of when they will reopen the apprenticeship and what requirements I will need.
New Yorker
https://www.newyorker.com/magazine
This is very different to my other clients that I have chosen. However, ever since I wanted to be an illustrator I knew I wanted to have my very own illustration be in an edition of the New Yorker. I have range in my illustration and although I specialise in children's illustration, I know I would love to have this to be part of my career in illustration.
I have followed them on instagram and Linked in to see when they are opportunities to work there. As well as looking at opportunities I know that I will need to start building up my portfolio and gaining clients to become well established enough that the New Yorker would be interested in me.
